Want to know how to remove rear tail light on 89 chevy celebrity to change light?
The bulb %26quot;should%26quot; be able to be removed from inside.
Unplug it.
turn it 1/4, jiggle and pull.
You might have to remove some plastic cover to get to it.
But it's pretty simple.

I will assume you are talking about the bulb, not the entire housing/ lens. Open your trunk, you will see wires going to a socket in the interior housing. Rotate the socket about 1/4 turn to the left (you will feel it loosen), pull it straight out to check/replace the bulb. To reinstall, reverse the procedure.
can you get to the bulb by opening the trunk?

Brake lights, headlights, dash lights, no tail lights?
I have a 1991 Toyota Camry LE. My problem is that my headlights, brake lights, and dash lights all work, but my tail lights don't. I have changed the bulbs, checked the wiring, replaced the fuses, all to no avail. any help would be greatly appreciated!!! This started after i had to get the brake light switch replaced. my tail lights worked then but no brake lights...immediately after, my tail lights went out and everything else works

I would take it back to whom ever did the work and have them look at it. Sounds like a wire or a ground issue. Or try to find the bad connection your self.

I had a revers light problem on one of my cars and that's all it was I unpluged it then repluged it and it worked again.
Could be a bad relay switch, or a wire that is grounded.
Good old chinese parts.

This alll started when I changed the brake light and all lights in the rear (lft and rt side) went out. After that we changed the blue fuse #15 in the door panel but whenever you pressed the brake it kept blowing, then we took out the rt tail light circuit board and it stopped blowing and the lft started working a little (turn signal, brake and reverse work but parking lights don't work, the plate lights don't work) Can someone help me? My husband wants to replace the rt circuit board but I'm not convinced that's the problem (why would that stop the other lights from working?), there's no rust in any of the sockets.

first...be sure you installed the correct bulb,s....a # 3057 %26amp; a # 3157 look the same but interchanging them can cause problem,s similar to your,s ...then check the contact,s in the socket,s ...they are prone to heat distortion...problem,s like these can be very difficult to diagnose without the proper equipment ...the circuit board could cause the problem,s you stated just by being disconnected...not allowing the circuit to be completed...it may or not be bad...testing with a multimeter is the only way to be sure [ other than replacing it]...check all wire,s for integrity %26amp; be sure all ground wire,s are secure...good luck!

I agree, you likely were sold the incorrect bulb. Call the parts store and have them tell you the part numbers for each of the bulbs in the rear. The number of the bulb is usually on the glass or on the base. Verify that all the bulbs are correct using the numbers.
The reason removing one of the circuit boards keeps you from blowing the fuse is that either the bad bulb is being driven from it or it is reducing the load on the circuit far enough for the other bulbs to continue working.
Here is another method (you will need lots of fuses for this). Install a new fuse and remove a bulb, if the fuse blows when you step on the brakes then reinstall the bulb and another fuse. Remove different bulb and try the brakes again, if the fuse blows then keep repeating this process until you find the bad bulb. If you do not find a bad bulb then your circuit board may be blown, but I really doubt it.

so this is my problem .. i have a 99 z24 chevy cavalier and my tail lights are out. every time i change the fuse, the lights work for like 30 seconds and then blow the fuse out. i don't know what the problem is. any ideas on how to fix it? also, for some odd reason, i constantly have to change my bulbs for my turn signals cause they burn out. have any idea why this happens? any help would be greatly appreciated!

you have a dead short somewhere, if you have not changed the brake light switch, which is under the dash behind the brake pedal, (looks like a little push button, buy one they are pretty cheap, if you are still blowing fuses and bulbs after this, there is nothing left you can do, it needs to go to an auto electric shop, they have some specialty tools that test the system and pinpoint the location of a dead short Im hoping your switch shorted out, Are you having any other electrical problems, like say a bad headlight switch, or problems in the turn signals? or even in the ignition itself, like loose or worn or sloppy movement, this could all be related believe it or not.

2. Check all cables you can visually see for wear and exposed wires. This can ground out your taillights and cause you to blow fuses.
3. Have you checked your battery terminals, ground to body cables to make sure your getting a good connection.
You should be able to buy new sockets for your 99 cav at GM. If you can do basic wiring then it shouldn't be a problem. Check the sockets for corrosion and signs of wear. If they are badly corroded then replace.
Hope this helps ....definitely a grounding problem ...so start there. ;)

Black Cat's tail changing colour... Why?
I have a black cat with all white paws on all four, white belly, and white neck and white in the ears. She's a growing kitten, weighing about 3 pounds, very healthy, beautiful shiny coat. recently, I noticed the tip of her tail changing to a medium to light brown colour. She doesn't sleep near a radiator or anything very hot, nor cold. Her tail is changing and progressively the brown is moving further and further down the tail.

If she seems healthy and happy otherwise, and the coat seems healthy, it's probably not a sign of anything negative.

I think it just happens with some animals when they get their adult fur.
Sunlight can also do that I think. All of my black cats go brown in the summer.
It's probably not something you should worry about too much, as long as she's healthy.
Just like us - kittens change during their kitten (baby) and young adult (teenage) years - A cat is considered a young adult up to 2 years - It is nothing to be concerned about - It is possible she is considered a 'calico' cat and the tan/brown is just now showing up in her coat -

Before the tail lights quit the interior lights would blink on and off at will. Reconditioned the battery because it had died and that stopped. I bought the car 15 months ago and three months later the stereo, cd player and clock died and I have three blinking lights there at all times. How do you change the dash lights in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
Specifically, only the dash lights that illuminate the heater controls. They burned out, although there have been an couple of instances when they turned on randomly and stayed on until I turned off the car, so the lights aren't dead per se but just don't work when they're supposed to.

i own a repair shop,and all you do is raise the trunk lid and remove the back panel for that side ,and you,ll see a bunch of nuts on the back side of the light these are what hold it in ,be careful and don't break none of these off ,they might may be stuck some but it will come out,make sure you have all the nuts off if it though,it has a few of them on it,and be careful putting the new one back in,its an easy job,take your time and you,ll do fine with it,good luck,i hope this help,s.

i dnt think theyre different from any other car ull have to open the trunk, move the carpet liner and twist and pull out the light socket, then put the new one in and put it all back.
you better go to a good,, auto repair shop,, or a car repair shop, something like that, CAr service, its really hard, and,, they can change it for some money.
generally in the new vehicles there are either 2 or 3 plastic wing nuts that you can turn and your tail light assemble should slide right out, replace bulb put assemble back in and tighten wing nuts

There is a reason the fuse has blown twice and that would be.........................there is a short in the system somewhere. As answer #1 said replace the headlight switch yeah there could be a short in that causing your problem and I would have one on hand but I doubt that you do and you wouldn't want to spend money for a new one if that isn't the problem. So check for a bare wire for taillights and dash lights first. If you don't find a bare wire then remove the switch and test it for continuity you will know if that is the problem before spending $ for a new one.

You're burning too rich, and would be wise to adjust your fuel rate via your aforementioned power commander.
Its possible that the engine is tuned really rich. You will need to get it re-tuned after installing the Power Commander by someone who knows what to do.

it doesnt matter what engine size it is all you really have to do is open the back door look for at least 2 phillips head screws take those out then just pull the light a lil bit and it should pop right out then you have to twist the wire that has the bulb a little bit its like a lock feature turns about an inch then the socket comes out and you can remove the bulb and put a new one in.

2003 Renault M茅gane tail lights problem?
Hi, I've got a 2003 M茅gane and I'm having trouble with the rear lights. All three brake lights come on, but when the headlights are on, only one tail light comes on. I changed the bulb, but still doesn't light up as a tail lamp. Also, neither of the small lights that light up the rear registration plate work, I've also changed these bulbs. There is no particular fuse for these bulbs either.
Any ideas what to do?

If the bulbs and fuses are OK then only the wiring and connectors are left to be faulty. switch should be OK if the others are working on it.

Renault's do suffer from connector and wiring problems, so it may well be that one of them is the cause of the problem. The good news is that renault recognised they had some problems with connectors and they can be brought separately from the rest of the wiring loom. the number plate lights get their power feeds from a small two pin block plug located behind one of the rear lights (passenger side), so again this connection maybe the cause of the problem.
in my experience the majority of lighting faults are caused by an earthing fault! identify the earth wire from the rear cluster(generally black) and check continuity by running an independant lead to a clean metal surface.
Any ideas what to do?

The good news is that renault recognised they had some problems with connectors and they can be brought separately from the rest of the wiring loom. the number plate lights get their power feeds from a small two pin block plug located behind one of the rear lights (passenger side), so again this connection maybe the cause of the problem.
in my experience the majority of lighting faults are caused by an earthing fault! identify the earth wire from the rear cluster(generally black) and check continuity by running an independant lead to a clean metal surface.

the problem started all at once, no lights while driving. I replaced all bulbs and checked all fuses according to the limited owners manual. some suspect it may be the neutral safety switch,what ever that is. it has no cruise control and the light switch is a lever on the left-side of the steering wheel. i noticed that when i engage the high beam lights the switch/lever deos not lock or stay in position, so if i drive the car at night i must use the high beams and hold the lever in place. once again, no head lights, no tail lights,no interior dash lights. all flashers,brake, backup/reverse,and interior dome light works fine. If your fuses are ok, you may need to check the headlamp switch. Ford had some problems with the headlamp switches in the past that would light the whole car on fire, and I don't think they ever figured out how to make a good ford/mercury headlamp switch.

Hello, I pulled the trunk cover out of the way, and saw two areas in the inside of the trunk where it looked like the lights would pull out. I twisted and pulled a little on these black fixtures, but the fixtures weren't coming out, and I was afraid to pull or twist too hard, because I thought I might break the fixture, not being certain of if I was doing it right.
In my previous car, it was easy to change the tail lights. The fixtures popped out easily.
Does anyone out there have a 1995 Ford Taurus or know the specifics of this particular auto so that I can change the tail light myself?

Sounds like his trailer was not wired correctly. Was there a blown fuse that you found? If not then there is an open in a wire somewhere. Possible burned wire. Do your parking lights on front work?

I think you just missed the fuse for the tail light and dashboard light. If you check the bulb and its okay, it could be a blown or loose fuse. Have it check again. Hope this help!

I was changing a tail light that was burnt out on my 03 Astro van yesterday and I am positive I used the correct bulb. When I started the van after reinstalling the light cover none of the lights on the rear of the vehicle worked except for the brake lights. No blinkers, running lights or reverse lights. The lights in my dash also stopped working, but the radio works fine. I checked my fuses and everything looks fine. What could the problem be?

You blew the fuse. That's why the dash lights go out with the tail lights. So you don't drive for years not knowing your tail lights aren't working.
Check all fuses with an ohm meter or test light to be sure.

Recheck you fuses. Find the fuse that controls this circuit. Change it anyway. Gut tells me that is where your problem is. Sometimes a fuse can be bad and not be readily seen by simply looking at it.

I know I am dumb, but how and the heck do you change a tail light bulb on a GMC 2000 Yukon?
When I use the left turn signal, I get a rapid flash. The front signal works, but tha rear and left rear brake light does not. I went to Pep Boys and bought replacement bulbs, but the heck if I can figure out how to get the lense cover off so I can replace the blown bulb.
Anybody have any experience? There does not seem to be any screw holes on the outside -- Is this a dealer or repair shop job? I need some help, any comments are appreciated and I feel like a goof for asking such a simple question.

Unless you know someone else that will do it. I watch some one do that sort of thing before and It was pretty darn work, In the dark to but we got through with it. So just try that. Take Care

I have a 2003, and changed it myself, the 2005 model is different, but not by much. It is in the trunk. Directly behind the taillight there should be a hand twistable plastic bolt to take off holding the carpet to the back of the taillight backing, then a philips screw driver can remove the light, it pops off completely from the outside. You can get the replacement bulbs at Walmart, it was pretty easy for me, and I am not good at this stuff.

Inside the trunk, where the lamp is located, there are a couple of thumbscrews that hold the trunk liner in place. Remove them and pull the liner away to reveal the back of the taillight. On the light socket there may be a lock tab which will have to be depressed before the socket can be twisted out. Once removed from the lens assembly you will see the bulb in its socket. A small flat blade screwdriver may be required to remove the bulb from the socket. Gently pry out the bulb at the plastic base only. DO NOT PRY ON THE GLASS!!! Make sure you replace the bulb with the same type and wattage. The GE number will be marked on the plastic base of the bulb. i.e. 4157, 3157, etc.
Install the new bulb and check to see if it works before reinstalling everything.
Assembly is the reverse of the above.

THE BULBS GO IN A CERTAIN WAY, TRY TURNING THEM A HALF TURN AND SEE HOW THAT WORKS.
The wires to the sockets are wrong. You could fix it just by swapping the tail light and brake light wires at the sockets, but you really need to find out why they're mixed up. They might not be the only thing wrong.

THE BULBS GO IN A CERTAIN WAY, TRY TURNING THEM A HALF TURN AND SEE HOW THAT WORKS.
The wires to the sockets are wrong. You could fix it just by swapping the tail light and brake light wires at the sockets, but you really need to find out why they're mixed up. They might not be the only thing wrong.

I has that same problem, do your dash lights work at night when reading the speedometer and everything else, because the taillights and the dash lights are connected and it was a just a fuse, check the fuses again. Make sure it's the right slot for this fuse. If you need a diagram there's some online for it. If nothing works take it to a mechanic and let them deal with it.

Not the same car but look at your lights and if you have a trunk open it and loosen any screws holding the red plastic over the bulb. you may not need to take the red cover off and just be able to reach in to the back of your trunk and see wires going into the general area turn it and pull gently. then remove bulbs and replace

I'm not sure if this is the right section to put this in or not but I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have a 2005 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro and when I have my lights on the tail lights are really really bright when I'm just running. It looks like I am stepping on my breaks. I don't know what to do about it either!
I've asked the Audi dealer to check it out and they said it's normal...but I really don't think it's normal when people who are following you call you and ask why you're riding your breaks when you're not.

94 Accord dash lights not working but tail lights ARE working?
I was driving and i realized HEY my dash lights arent on! I might have kicked a fuse when I got out because it doesnt have a cover but Ive read that if that fuse is out then both your tail lights and dash lights are out but my tail lights are fine. also ive read about the knob that changed intesity of the lights but thats not the problem. I just have no idea. Does anyone know if this is a certain fuse and which number it is? or ANY HELP??!?!?!

It has to be a blown fuse are the dimmer wheel (button) has been turned (pushed) You need to check both fuse boxes ,the one under the hood and the one under the dash.

I have a 2007 mustang with an out tail light. I tried replacing the bulb but it still wont work. What could be wrong. Its the drivers side rear light bulb.

replace the pigtail (connector) or even try a different bulb sometimes bulbs have a nasty habit of just saying %26quot;time to commit suicide%26quot; and just jump off the shelf and get damaged in the process.
P.S. The last little joke was just a joke, sometimes people just dont care and drop stuff it breaks even if it looks good the damage is still done. Happened to me a few times

in the trunk, unscrew the tabs that hold the taillight housing on, undo the bulb holder and replace the bulb.
The bulb number is 3057.

There are several of nuts that hold the taillight assembly to the trunk. There are accessed from inside the trunk behind the carpeting. It is one big piece so you do need to take all the nuts off to access the bulbs. If i were you i would change them all while you have it off.

Most cars bulbs are changed from inside the boot ( think americans call that the trunk?).
Open the %26quot;trunk%26quot; and have a look at where you imagine the back of the tail light would be. If you look for long enough I am guessing you will find the way to change that globe.
yeah ur gonna have to take the panel off and get a new bulb from an auto parts store. if in doubt or you dont wanna mess up your car, you can go the extra mile and have someone who knows something about cars and have them help you.
u should be able to turn out a socket from inside the trunk turn it and it will come out then just turn the bulb to get out

Take it to a local auto parts seller and buy the part, they will change it out for you, for free, if you ask.
I don't know specifically about the Buick but generally it is accessed from the trunk. In your case, open the trunk, pull back the felt or fabric away from the rear area, look for either wiring to the sockets OR... there may just be thumb screws or nuts to loosen and remove the entire light assembly from the car. Then the lights can be replaced.

Look inside the trunk.Pull the fuzzy plastic covering back to expose the light hardware and wiring.If you're lucky the bulb sockets pop in/out with a quarter turn right there.If the fixture has to be removed to access the bulb sockets then there will be wing or hex nuts to unscrew like my Ford has.Don't worry about messing with it.I got a HAYNES Manual.Good luck.
if you dont see no screws out side then look inside trunk move carpet and you may have the twist type nuts.un screw then tail light will come right out

How do I change the air filter and tail lights in my Chevy S-10?
I bought an air filter and just wanted to make sure not to pull the whole thing out. In my last car i just took the clips off and took out the old air filter. In my truck now, the filter is wedged in and i just want to make sure before i pull it out completely.
Just got the truck and I am prone to mess things up doing repairs and replacements with out proper instruction. Thanks

yes just pull it out, to change the bulbs, drop the tailgate and take out the screws or clips on the inside edge. this will allow you to pull out the taillight.
